I've got almost 200 songs in my itunes library, and made 2 playlists that transferred nicely to the ipod. Listening now to Rod Stewart's Hot Legs.... I know I've still got a lot to learn, but thank goodness it's going better today, well, geeze, I guess it couldn't have gone any worse than yesterday, eh? I have a question.. do you guys have cases for them? And where do you carry them when you're walking around listening? Pocket? And I still have bunches of music to go through, not to mention buying some.

When it's in my pocket, I keep it in the little sleeve that came with it. I don't have a special case. I rarely listen to an album or even an artist. I mostly keep mine set on random play and then just listen to a genre, like country. I set up a smart playlist so that I don't hear any song twice before I've gone through all of them in that genre. I also have smart playlists to just play my 5 star favorites or my least played songs. You can do just about anything you want. 8 GB will hold a lot of music. So far I've used a little less than 10 GB and have over 3,100 songs on it. I don't have any videos which would take up more space.

I have an mp3 and carry it in my pocket when walking or using in the house. With all the music in this house, headphones are almost always required

Now that I have figured it out to a certain point, I'll be getting a dock for it. Today will be more adding to the itunes library and more playlists. Gale called yesterday and asked what I was up to, I told her learning how to work my ipod and she asked "what's an ipod?" I felt so technologically advanced.

Nicholas is the only one without an iPod but I've created a playlist on mine just for him, so I often put that on if we're in the car. It's kid music that doesn't make me want to shoot myself, so it works out OK. I have a ton of different playlists, including specific ones for books-on-CD and podcasts. You may want to try these websites, too, for sources of downloads (some are free, some you have to pay for): LibriVox Recordings Audible.com AudioBooks For Free I also copy books-on-CD and other CDs from the library and import them. We have an iHome unit (portable) that I use in the yard and kitchen. Mike bought a Bose docking station (excellent speakers) for the living/dining room area (not all that portable). For the car, I use a Belkin thingy that plugs into the lighter/charger and the iPod, while using the radio to play the music. I keep that in the glove compartment. I invested in a leather case for my iPod since I carry it all around, hooking it up to wherever I am. It also spends time in my purse, so I wanted to protect it there, too.
